Bertolli Tomato Sauces
For the past year I’ve been a fan of the Bertolli red pesto that I can only seem to find in Tescos, something we don’t really have (besides the little expresses) around here, so I have to batch buy it in when I can. However recently we’ve started to also buy the Bertolli tomato sauces that all supermarkets seem to have. Usually I’m a fan of making my own pasta sauces and bolognaise, but for lunchtime when you just want some tagliatelle and a simple sauce on top, their sauces go quite well.
When I was younger I started on Dolmio sauces, and then was introduced to Ragu which wasn’t as sweet. However after sampling a recipe given to me by my Italien Uncle, I’ve not used jars of sauces since as I find they’re too sweet and contain products that you cannot pronounce! But the Bertolli sauces are different. They’re a great base for a pizza, and perfect to use to coat pasta with when you don’t fancy pesto. I often add a tin tuna and perhaps some spring onion in with it too.
My personal favourite has to be Pecorino Cheese and Garlic. It needs nothing adding to it whatsoever, it’s perfect as it is. The Red Wine and Shallots flavour is also good as is the Roasted Vegetables one, but the Cheese and Garlic has to be the best by far. Definitely worth a try for any pasta lovers out there.
