Chilli Oil

Chillis We had a few chillis left in the fridge which hadn’t been included in the pile of chillis drying in the airing cupboard (these have now been crushed and put in a spice jar). After having lunch one day in Pizza Express Dave decided he wanted to use these remaining chillis to make his own chilli infused oil.

So yesterday we picked up a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil from the supermarket, finely chopped the remaining chillis (about 10 or so) and put them into the oil. We’ll probably leave the oil for about a fortnight at least to get the two tastes to mix and to infuse the chilli well, however it’s a handy use for those left over chillis if you don’t want to crush them all :)

  1. We bought a chilli plant a while back so made some oil but it started to smell and went off. :s

  2. Which type of oil did you use and where did you store it? I can’t see this oil lasting long, it’s a diddy bottle and I can see Dave using it on everything possible!
