Cider Vinegar
Bet you’re wondering how can I put Cider Vinegar under the Drink category?! Well it’s the latest addition to my daily intake. A spoonful of Cider Vinegar is meant to be good for your health in many ways. Improving the immune system for one, but I’m taking it for the possibility of it helping with weightloss and also improving skin. I suffer from Eczema, and whilst I’ve not suffered a major flare up for over a year I do still have minor little patches and with the cold weather in tow my eyes are also drying out a lot and that is a usual eczema haunt, so I’m hoping that the health and healing properties of cider vinegar will help keep my skin at bay.
I’m trying it on recommendation from my Mum’s friend. She spent a few uncomfortable months with a bad rash on her sides and back and no amount of creams would clear it up. She then tried the vinegar and the rash cleared up. Once she stopped taking the vinegar, the rash started to come back. As a side effect she’s also lost a lot of weight! I like those side effects!!
So I picked up a bottle yesterday, Cyder Vinegar (yes it’s spelt correct) from Holland and Barratt for £1.49. Both Dave and I are trying this to see if it makes a difference as I’ve learnt that different things effect different people. To take it without eye watering moments I’m having a dessertspoon of the vinegar along with a teaspoon of runny honey, dissolved in hot water. It’ll warm me up the morning at least. Dave’s simply having it with Apple Juice (there goes all my Apple Juice!).
Of course the weightloss theory may be masked by the fact that we’re both on a healthier eating regime anyhow but if it helps with the skin then it can’t be bad in my books.

red tea and cinnamon are also lovely for the skin, give them a shot
Never seen red tea before, will have to take a look for it
i have just started to take cyder vinegar with water and honey i will keep you posted to see wot happens
Hey Kelly, must admit I stopped taking it simply because I don’t have a typical morning routine so kept forgetting! I may start again when the diet starts again this week (once we’ve eaten all the bad food around first!).
Good luck with it
Hello,
I heard about drinking cider vinegar with honey and warm water before ( as you suggested) but I’ve never head that it might help to deal with eczema.
I might give it a try / I had stress related eczema for a few month but it didn’t go away completely yet.
Thank you.
Sorry to hear about the eczema Anya. Mine flares up when I’ve very stressed, which of course makes me more stressed. Things I found to help (which may or may not work or have already been tried)
1. Johnson’s soft bodywash with aloe vera (in the baby section usually)
2. Johnson’s baby oil with aloe vera
3. Oilatum hair shampoo – I tend to find it starts in my head and spreads down so if my head is fine things are a lot better
4. A mix of herbal oils – calendula and lavendar usually I think.
However, the cider vinegar could also be worth a try, so good luck with it and I hope it clears up soon for you.
