Eating Mushrooms
I like the smell of mushrooms cooking. I quite like the taste of some mushrooms. I don’t like the texture of mushrooms whatsoever! Mushrooms have this spongy rubbery texture which I just can’t stand.
It’s a shame as Dave is currently growing mushrooms and is on his second crop. The first crop came out massive and smelt gorgeous when he cooked them up for breakfast one day. Also mushrooms are probably one of the biggest foods available for free out in the wild (of course you need a good book to ensure you don’t pick any deadly ones!). However I avoid mushrooms as I just can’t stand the texture. So what can you do with mushrooms that doesn’t involve having to bite into them. I realise a cream of mushroom sauce is possible, not that I’ve ever tried making it. The other option is a puree of some sort, hopefully retaining the strong taste but puree’d right down so that it’s a paste and no spongy bits are left!

I tried to grow mushrooms from one of those kits you buy from B&Q that have everything you need in a polystyrene box and all you have to do is water.
I finally gave up after about a month with absolutely nothing to show for my efforts.
Dave’s had a few corkers out of his. He’s on the 3rd round but nothing seems to be showing so I guess that’s it. Let’s just say, mushrooms from a market stall would be cheaper
