Moving the Garden
It’s been a bit quiet around here as we’re about to move house (finally!). This also means sorting out the old garden, taking what I can with me and getting it planted in the new garden, and worse of all it’s freezing here in the UK!
In our old garden we’ve got raspberry canes, strawberry plants, a gooseberry bush and various herb plants to take with us. The raspberry canes are easy as they’re done for the year and can be cut back to about a foot long (I’d cut them right to the ground however it’ll be easier to transport them if they’ve got a little length on them). The strawberry plants will be potted up in the morning and I’m not sure if they’ll get planted in the ground or whether I may put them in a trough of sorts as there’s not much planting area in the new garden. The herbs will also go and stay in pots, hopefully I can get the cuttings right and they’ll continue growing.
The new garden is a west facing garden so on side will get the sun in the afternoon but not the other side. This restricts what I can plant in the garden however there is a reasonable amount of patio space so I can set up some deep tubs there which will be in prime sun position.
I just hope I can get as much of the roots for the plants out as possible to get the best out of them next year.
